We decided that a new bathroom in the master bedroom was needed more. We completely gutted it… and believe me, be glad I don’t have before pictures! So far, everything has been pulled out and thrown away… and the only thing that is original is the (remaining) tile in the shower and the walls and ceiling. The contractors cut out the floor and sub flooring, married up a joyce that needed extra support, and put in a real wood sub-floor (before there was pressed-wood planks) and put down sheets for tiling (there was nothing like that before either). We have repainted, capped off all water faucets and other pipes.
The contractors took me shopping last weekend and we bought a new vanity and sink, a new toilet (lo-flo of course), tile and paint. We also bought a new shower door. This one will swing out instead of the sliding kind. They also had a custom shower pan made (that was installed today). Before it was just a rubber pan that was filled with cement and covered over in tile. The tile had all come loose and was just a disaster in the making. We had a toilet water input valve that was leaking and it had ruined the bathroom floor.
My neighbor across the road is a plumber and he will be setting the shower drain and will place the toilet, sink and replace ALL the valves, faucets, and shower head in the next day or so.
Next will be putting down the tile I selected and replacing the tile that they had to pull out in the shower. With the custom shower pan there is no need for tile in the shower floor… thank goodness!

New custome shower pan in – color is “bone”

Where the new lo-flo toilet will go – color is a lighter “bone”
You can also see where the house has “settled” and the contractors have had a hell of a time getting things to level out and even up. They will be able to hide this between the tile and the base boards.

Outside wall and heating vent. You can see this wall has stayed level. The new paint color is a frosted pearl with a beige base.

The tile ready planks.

Where the vanity will go. I looked for two hours at Lowes and Home Depot and neither had an affordable “bone” vanity top and sink, so I had to settle for “off-white”. Sigh… I guess when I get rich I will be able to spend 800.00 on the colors I want. lol
The baseboards, vanity and all the trimming will be oak and/or stained oak. They are even replacing the window trim and that will also be stained oak. I tried to stick to warmer colors and earth tones, without over doing it and staying within my budget. My contractor also found tile trim in a beautiful medium beige that should tie into the color scheme really well.
Updates to come!

Well sweetie, that was quite the renovation job. We (the ex and I) did that on the first “house” we owned. We lived in a townhouse for six months then moved into a real house. It was 800 sq. ft. Two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and living room. The ceiling was horrible, holes everywhere, some kind of pressed wood panelling. The bathroom was just like yours. We gutted that too. Put all new windows, doors and a new bathroom in. Then we sold it a year later because the ex couldn’t get along with the neighbour kids. LOL….
Anyways, your pictures showed up as broken links.
Thanks for the update…..
Big hugs and prayers.
Remodelin’ is a lot of work. I’m still working on our bathroom…. 2 years now. (Okay, so I’ll tell you how I procrastinate – later)
We’ve only been in this house for a week and I already want to redo the master bath. I’ll definitely be following along, so I know if it’s worth the headache or not
Finally got a monitor installed…hopefully it will keep working!!! Now to get some speakers working.
Love the pictures, as I remember that bathroom well!! It needed renovation then, and am glad you finally got around to doing it.
Now to get completed and curtains up at that window and in the bedroom.
Love ya, Mom
Thanks for your comment today on my blog, It really meant a lot.
Glad to hear things are going well.
