As my mom has been in and out of the hospital, my boss has been out of town and we have been negotiation with our homeowner’s insurance company for a new roof and other repairs from storm damage.
A few months ago a strong wind storm tore up what was left of our 34 yr old roof (with three layers already on it). There is damage under the roofing that they refuse to pay for (rotten boards) and they are not paying much to have those three layers removed. Thankfully we already have a construction company that is more than willing to take on the insurance company and they assured us that they can double their first offer on recovery. There is also hail damage to our new gutter system and the storm knocked over 3 pine trees in the back yard. (I will post pictures later)
Tomorrow the roofing supplies arrive and Friday, after any rain moves out, we will have a new roof. I took a vacation day… so I may be posting progress reports – along with pictures. The trash container should arrive either tomorrow or Friday and we plan on adding more stuff to it before it is carted back off.
I am breathing much easier and sleeping better now that Mom is back home. She gave us all a scare but that is past and all is well. Love you Mom!
The youngin is still up to his getting home late antics… in fact we just had a tiff about that very thing, but he is still my kid… and I can’t help but love him anyways.
Oh Yea! If you have a “Game Stop” near you… avoid them like the plague! They ripped off the youngin and I am still pissed off about it. He took a bunch of games and his old PS2 to sell – because it only works when it wants to. He wants one of the new X-Box 360′s and we were hoping to add to that fund… but his cash dwindled to nothing for the following reasons:
- His total of cash back started at 50.00
- Because he didn’t have a controller they made us buy one at 12.99 + tax
- Because he wanted cash – no machine to buy games for they deducted instore bonuses…
- His take home? 15.00 and change
Needless to say they totally ripped the youngin off and I think that is a scam from the word go. How sad is it that a big company like this has to steal money from kids? We will never shop there again and I am still calling on their corporate office to ask them to give the kid his well deserved cash back.
Well that is all the latest happenings I can think of for the moment… but there will definetely be more to come in the next couple of days.
BTW – my co-author has gotten the job he wanted and is swamped with work. He might post again someday… but I am still peeved at him for neglecting his friends… AHEM… yea, I am looking at you Carlo!
Oh! and if you get a chance go say bye to one of the longest running blogs on my blogroll… I am sad to announce that Michele is closing down her blog. She has been on my ‘roll almost since I started blogging and her place was always a fun place to go to meet new bloggers. I can say that over 50% of my blogroll now was because of Michele and her famous “Meet & Greet”. She left her comments open… so go give her a hug, a smile and tons of bloggy love, K?

i was thinking one of us should try hosting and honorary Meet n greet for the friends of Michele…. but then…. it i sso slow out there lately
glad you will have a new roof, that is important
Heck, you have been one BUSY gal!
Kids. Gotta love ‘em (right?)
Thanks for the tip on Game Stop. Wife was heading there this weekend to trade in one of the kids’ games to get another… I warned her, thanks to you!
Hey all, am doing fine. Was reflux disease (GERD), not the heart. Never had those symptoms before, and it was scary.
Glad to hear about the roof, as you have needed one for some time now. Sounds like you have a good construction company behind you.
You go after that game company, and show them what a redhead can get accomplished. They have a surprise in store for them.
Somewhere out there in cyberspace is my lost comment before this one……hate it when that happens…..so if two posts from me appear…you know why. Wipe out the first one.
I’m glad Mom is back on the mend! Sorry about GameStop and the roof troubles. Here’s hoping both issues are resolved quickly. Have a great weekend!
Thats how they got to be a big company by screwing people.
Next time you want to sell something put it on kijiji in your area
