T.G.I.F – I think…

It has been a very interesting, frustrating, wanna scream kinda day… and it is not over yet… sigh.

Good news is the stock exchange went back into the green today.

Bad, frustrating news is that the kid got hurt in PE today (sprained or broken ankle) and I have no insurance… or cash and I am sure you all know what that means. I called the DR’s office that usually cares for him. They don’t have an x-ray machine – so they could not help. They sent me over to a non-profit urgent care facility and they told me that they would see him… and that they would probably bill me. NOT.

They wanted cash before they would see him. grrrrrrrrr.

I walked, no I stormed out of there almost in tears but I managed to not lose it until after I got in the car. The boy was all “sorry mom.” and “I will be ok, mom, cause I can walk on it.”… It frustrates me to no end that we live in one of the wealthiest countries in the world and there is no proper health care system in place. I can take him an hours drive away and get him seen… but it is in Atlanta and it is a Friday… which means I would probably be stuck in traffic longer than I would be sitting at the hospital.

So… you can see why it was a shitty but OK day… so far.

I sure hope that he learns some patience with this happening…he wants to get up and run around when he really needs the weekend down with the foot up and ice. Remember when your broke your leg…was hard to keep you down too…but with the pain, maybe he will stay off of it…so he will be able go to school next week.
We were in the same boat then as you are now with him. Not much money and no insurance either….but we got you taken care of. That was a Slip ‘n Slide accident, and I sure remember that.

Somebody needs to put this on Obama’s “To Do” list.

If it wern’t for the V.A. I don’t know what I would do with all my health problems. Last night I had my daughter drive me three hours away to be seen by a emergency room doctor at the V.A. I got a shot for pain, a bottle of ibuprophen and told I have to change jobs because my knees are in such bad shape. My wife is now out of a job but has the V.A. to rely on because she is a veteren. It’s a hassle to drive three hours away for government health care. I would hate to see what would happen if I had a “real emergency” like a heart attack or something. The doctor and hospital bill would sink me. I am not complaining that much. I am damn thankfull for the care I get. Even if it is three hours away.
