Our soil here in VA is red clay too. We dump a few loads of manure on it every spring. Wonder why the south was the agricultural center of the country before the civil war.
To late I have almost 50 plants in the house now LOL
Hehehe, you so sound like me when I lived alone in Florida. Every available space in my little house was filled with a potted plant. My garden was full too! I loved watching them bloom under my care. I think to this day that my favorite plant is the Devils Backbone. It is a succulent and very odd looking, but when healthy it is beautiful.
