was mostly written by a man whose name you would not recognize but whose music you will. He wrote some of the most recognizable music the world has ever heard. Earle Hagen passed away on Monday, but he leaves behind a legacy that few can ever match. (I would place a picture up of Earle, but my loader is not functioning.)
It is Earle that is the whistler in the opening sound track to The Andy Griffith Show with his son, who was 11 at the time, snapping his fingers in the background.
He also wrote the sound tracks and scores for I Spy, That Girl, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Gomer Pyle, Eight is Enough, and The Mod Squad. He was a score writer for several movies including Marilyn Monroe’s Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
The whistled tune to Andy Griffith has probably been taught to more parrots than any other tune in the world. Earle, your music will live on for years to come and your genius with the musical note will be sorely missed. May you rest in peace.

Everytime someone like Earle Hagen passes away something of us dies with them.
So many of those who I grew up watching or listening to are now gone its hard not to feel a little old but they did leave us alot to remember them with.
On a different note, this is the fastest EVER this blog has loaded. Usually it either took forever to open or it hung my computer.
Too bad that Honey didn’t/doesn’t whistle this one. Hope t he backhoe thingy got done.
