word
–noun
1. a unit of language, consisting of one or more spoken sounds or their written representation, that functions as a principal carrier of meaning. Words are composed of one or more morphemes and are either the smallest units susceptible of independent use or consist of two or three such units combined under certain linking conditions, as with the loss of primary accent that distinguishes blackʹbirdʹ from blackʹ birdʹ. Words are usually separated by spaces in writing, and are distinguished phonologically, as by accent, in many languages.

Words can wound and they can heal. Words can be said too much or not enough. Words can caress the soul, heart and mind, but they can also take one to the depths of depression. Words are reflections of ones train of thought. Words can be spoken or written, but both ways they can be misconstrued. Without a voice to speak them with intonations and meaning the written word is most times read without understanding of their true meaning.

Words are ways of transmitting ones personal feelings. Here at His Phoenix words are welcomed as long as they are not threatening me or mine of personal injury. Here we expect to not always be in agreement of a comment made, but that does not mean that those same words are not welcome.

I personally want to make it known that just because our views or beliefs may not be the same, does not mean that you and your opinions are not welcome here. On the contrary, I welcome a difference of opinion. What it means to me is that we are a diverse, intellectual community and differences are what makes this tiny world not so boring. If we all thought, spoke or behaved all the same… well, I shudder to think of it.

Please, I hope that you never come away from this blog with hurt feelings over a misunderstood word or conversation. If this does occur, then e-mail me and let us talk it out. A good debate can help others understand how the other is thinking. It can make friends, but a wrongly placed word can also make an enemy. I would rather that it could always be the first and not the latter, but I am also smart enough to know that you can’t be friends with everyone.

  1. You are such a beautiful and gentle soul. My heart is always affected every time I visit. Bless your sweetness.

  2. Did a little backreading to figure out what this post was about.

Bottom line, you put it better than I might have.

Joe, Sorry you lost your “Angus.”
I wanted to comment on your post to Phoenix. Thanks for your post there, and please do come back. It is very healthy to have differences of opinion, and I enjoyed reading your posts there. I have many varied emotions and opinions about the war in Iraq….and they change daily. I do agree with you about our current administration. There is also a new post that you should read and respond to.
Thanks for being who you are….

  4. Thanks, Phoenix and Mom C. I try to run my site with the same “code”, as it were.

Having lost both my mom and my dog in a two week span, I was reacting pretty emotionally yesterday (in fact, my response was posted while I waited for the vet’s office to open) and lack of sleep didn’t help me any. Thanks for understanding.

    Well said.
Like you I welcome everyone to comment on my blog and to express their opinions even if they are not like mine.
    Respect is a must though.

If we all beleived the same and agreed on everything life would be boring and bland.

    Have a nice day :)
