In 5 days, a very special day is going to occur for more than one reason. Yes, June 2nd is more than special.
First, my half brother, whom I have only met once, is going to retire after 30 years on the police force. I am very proud of him and I hope that his day is extra special. He is a wonderful, kind and caring man that I look up to. My only wish is that we could spend more time to get to know each other better. Maybe someday this can happen.
Second, June 2nd is my birthday. I will be… uh, never mind… lets just say older. LOL
This is neither here nor there. It is how I am planning to spend my day that matters. Sadly, my county has lost another war hero and his funeral is on Saturday. I will be spending my birthday honoring Sgt. Brian “Daniel” Ardron, Georgia’s 100th loss of a hero, with many others in the Patriot Guard. I cannot think of a better way to spend my special day than this.
I urge all of you to go the the patriot Guard site and sign up. Just once go honor one of our fallen heros and you will understand what we mean by honor and pride. The roar from the motorcycles will fill you with awe. The flags all in a row will fill you with pride. The faces of the loved ones when they see you standing for their lost loved one will fill you full of honor. You won’t have a dry eye and neither will the others that stand with you.
After what happened to our Vietnam Vets when they came home, it is amazing to me that they are the first to step up to make sure that those coming home do not experience the same thing. Our soldiers did not ask for this war but they were the first to say I will serve to keep our country free for everyone who lives here.
I know right now that Carlo is beaming with pride and grinning from ear to ear. Carlo is serving in this war right now in Iraq and he is another proud member of the Guard. It might surprise you to know that many of the Patriot Guard are active service members serving our country all over this globe. They pose with their Patriot Guard flags and send the pictures back to the PGR site. It fills me with awe and respect to see them honoring those that honor them.
To those who have served before and those serving now. Thank you.

Well, I wasn’t smiling, but I got goose bumps down my spine and tears in my eyes. You know how I feel about the PGR, and I love it when people get to experience the power of a mission…
hey bird,
not ignoring you either. have been dropping by to read. sounds like life has handed you a few curveballs…
a little advice… get your life where it needs to be for you… your son WILL be better for it. so many of us stay unhappy for someone else, but the reality is that if we’re ok our kids are too. kids pick up on things as i’m sure you’re aware. i’ve been there with my son and my prayers are with you love.
Happy “almost” your birthday, Wendy
Jane is 100% correct on that.
Who loves ya sweetie…….ME!! Happy Birthday!
Proud of who you are and what you will be. Go get ‘em girl, love Mom
Happy upcoming Birthday!
Wow, how awesome it sounds; what an honor for you to be able to do that on your special day. I feel it was meant to be and I look forward to hearing about it. Happy birthday to you. I hope there aren’t any of those *uh hum* protesters there; it’s a slap in the face of the soldier and his/her families. How one person can be so horrible is beyond my comprehension.
*HUUGS*
