Yes, I am in that catagory if it is meant in the nice way. What I came up against last night was not so nice. I just don’t get where the game of pool and having fun was lost on some of these people. It doesn’t help that I was playing wounded and was so tired I could have curled up ON the table and slept for a good 8 hours.
I was so disgusted last night after my game that I gave up my win and the match. I forgot to say goodnight to my friends. I packed up my cue and just left… telling them that if they needed a win that badly, they could have the game. It is a longish story and one I don’t have time for at the moment. Just suffice it to say I am rethinking my “want” to play pool again. Sigh.

It’s a shame when people lose their perspective and take the fun out of something like that. I enjoyed D & D in my teen years, until my brother and his friends got it in their heads that they were going to be fantasy authors and everything in every game had to be dead serious. Make one joke and you’d get ragged at about it for 5 minutes…. where’s the fun in that?
It also why I never got into playing chess. All that “shhh” crap, and people taking it like it’s an IQ test or something. As if winning or losing a game of chess somehow reveals how intelligent you are in all matters. I have no idea how anyone enjoys that game.
These are people that are way too competitive. If you HAVE to win, then I’d rather walk away from the table. Phoenix, you did the right thing.
