A Good Exhaustion

For the first time ever I just lost an entire post with word press and I am not thrilled…. OY!

OK, let me try this again. I have not had time to write or post this weekend because for the first time in four years we had a fish fry. It was great fun and tons was eaten by all. We had about 15 close friends and family here. Since the middle of last week we have been preparing for it. Friends called the old man Wednesday afternoon and gave him about 58 brim they had caught that day. They called again on Thursday and gave him even more. He has been cleaning and fileting (sp) them since Wednesday evening.

Since Friday night we have been cleaning. Kitchen, bathroom and living room are spotless. Carpets were cleaned along with a very dirty bird cage. Dogs were leashed and prevented from begging food from the guests. (They really played up the poor me look though and got some goodies on the side.)

We had coleslaw and hush-puppies made from scratch. Fresh cut fries and breaded, deep fried brim. Fresh made sweet tea, sodas and beer for those that imbibe. One of our guests brought a homemade peach cobbler. Can you say yummm??

The guest are all gone now and the kid has a movie in. The old man fell asleep within one minute of finally sitting down, a new record for him I think. :)

I think it is time to call it a weekend and go relax. See ya on flip side!!

  1. What a way to spend the day, surrounded by good food and fun people. I’m so happy that you enjoyed the day. Not to mention that you had help cleaning the house (That would be a super bonus in my book!). Have a relaxing week Phoenix.

  2. That sounds like a wonderful day. I hope that your “good exhaustion” allows you to sleep well. I wish that I had the opportunity to be there for that. Good company, good food, good drink and good conversation, what more can you ask for?

  3. Now that sounds like the right kind of exhaustion ;-)

  4. Hey!!! I’m crushed!!!
How’d I miss out on this shindig???

  5. What a blast!
