What is a Gidget
I’m sure most of you have seen my name over on the left now for quite awhile. Maybe you’ve even connected some of my comments with that name sitting over there, yet being silent. Well, finally, here I write. Yes, Gidget really is my name. Or at least what I have been called all my life. But that’s another story. Even my Mom has called me that since day one. I have been blessed with two great kids (until they start driving me crazy again, that is). My daughter will be turning 16 this year, and tests me every day. My son just turned four this year and is still in the “why†stage. Yes, I know what an age gap. What can I say, we were “not preventing†for 5 years, and right at the point where I was going to say enough is enough, bam, I found out I was expecting. I had very mixed feelings about it, but in the end I wouldn’t trade him for anything.
I have been married now for almost 16 years. I’m not sure some days how we’ve managed to stay together, but so far, things have been good. One thing I still cannot understand is how in the world men put up with women and vice versa. I find it amazing sometimes how a woman can say one thing and a man hear an entirely different interpretation. I suppose it’s the whole idea around the way a man thinks and the way a woman thinks. I do know that one thing I’ve learned is not to react immediately. To take that breath, make sure what I was hearing was really what he was trying to say and then take it from there. Of course a lot of that stems from me not liking conflict. Yeah, I cave pretty quickly, but I’m learning.
I work doing medical billing for a group of psychologists. Yes, head shrinkers. No they don’t prescribe drugs, but are not opposed to them as a help. I work with two fantastic ladies in the office. Thankfully the three of us get along great. In that small an environment, it’s not easy working with women. Most of us can really be mean and nasty sometimes. I never understood why, but I’ve worked in a lot of offices and have seen the knives sticking out of others backs. However, there’s always a but somewhere… We do have another woman that works there, who has been there since the beginning. Not to knock the elderly, because I’m not, it’s just that this woman does not like change. If I hear one more time that “this was not the way she used to do itâ€, I think I might blow up. All in all though, it’s not a bad place to work. As an added bonus, I only work part-time, 5 hours a day. This way I get out of the house and still get to be home when the kids get home.
I met Phoenix one day in a trivia room. I went there looking for some useless, yet interesting, random facts. I’m a trivia junkie. What I found in that room was a bunch of amazing people. I was a real newbie on the internet and didn’t realize that you could chat while in there. What an experience that was. One day, Phoenix invited me into the hot tub in there as a celebration. I think it was Carlo who was celebrating something or other, but I never turn down the opportunity to settle into hot bubbles. I plopped in there only to my surprise I landed right on Carlo’s lap. However, I’m sure he’d tell that story a different way. I knew soon after that I had found some steadfast friends.
Well, finally I’ve posted, and I shall try to keep up on a very irregular basis. Keep smiling.

It’s about time gf! *wink*
I have been waiting for this a while and I knew eventually you would get around to it. I know your time is precious and I am tickled pink that you gave us some of it.
Welcome aboard!!
Actually, I was celebrating having a good day during a deployment. This was in 2002, and I met Phoenix (then known as CopperDragoness) and Gidget. I don’t remember why I was so happy, but I do remember opening up the tub to any and all that wanted to join me. Phoenix was next to me, and, all of a sudden I had a lap full of Gidget.
Five years later, these two ladies are very important to me, and they have gotten me through a lot of troubles and shared a lot of joys. They are my best friends…
Gidget–Welcome, You are one fortunate lady to have such great friends. I know Phoenix is a very special friend to me and Carlo is one to her so if she says he is a good friend which she does often then he is—that says enuff for me. Glad to see you were able to take a little time for a post and hope to see you here when you can.
Welcome Gidget!
I enjoyed your post. Phoenix is awesome and any friend of hers is warmly welcome into the fold in the blogoshere. The hot tub sounds like a fun and exciting way to meet.
I think I have you topped on the space between children……28Boy….14Boy…..then….4yr old girl. Ant was 15 when Joe was born and Joe was 10 when Jaycee was born. I went in for an appointment because I THOUGHT I was going through early menapause when I got pregnant with our little girl. I left the hospital in total shock and with weak kness. I can relate to the blessing and joy that we recieve every day from the little one.
