I have loved no matter what the cost,
He has found another one to love,
I hurt more than I could’ve conceived of.
Friends are what we are supposed to be,
I should be happy for him, I agree,
But how does one stay just friends,
When he loves anew and this one ends.
I can’t bring myself to say goodbye,
When the memories refuse to die,
I feel as though I shall break apart,
From this pain deep within my heart.
I feel the fool for wishing more,
I will not beg nor even implore,
His happiness should make me smile,
But that feeling will be gone awhile.
