Ashes? We don’t need no stinkin’ ashes!

Why do we blog?

Why do you blog? Is it for the comments or for the joy of writing? Do you blog as a form of therapy or as a way of sharing your life with friends and family? Is it a way of practicing for that big book that you want to publish someday or just a way of storing your thoughts in safe place like a diary?

We blog for all these reasons and many more. I have met some great people out here in this small but at the same time huge world of blogging. Me personally, I just blog to put my thoughts out there… a diary of sorts of my daily life. It is my salvation. It is my way of staying sane in my insane life. It is a joy to me to be able to have an outlet for not only my thoughts, but my poetry and writings. I am also an aspiring author.

I have met alot of people out here who are also aspiring for that big break; that book on the shelf in the local bookstore and perhaps someday that best seller. There are some that have already published and some that deserve to BE published.

Why am I writing this today? Because there are a couple of very special people out there whom I know personally that DO deserve that best seller. It is something that you can see just in their daily writings. They can write about their day and absolutely captivate you with their words. But sadly both seem to have gotten lost in their lives and have already made the decision to give it up or have given it some thought in the past.

I am not going to name names here. This is not what my post is about. I just want them both to know what a wonderful gift they have and to seriously give it some more thought. One I have offered to assist them in getting published and I mean that with my whole heart. I have also offered to help with edits (still waiting on those! LOL). I whole heartedly believe that both of these people have what it takes to make it as a writer and author.

I know life can get rough and in the way, but this is one dream that you don’t just stumble upon. It is a gift that comes from inside or on high and pours out on paper or that computer screen. It is a gift that should never be thrown away because something else is calling you or is not calling for a brief period of time. Muses come and fade, but they always, ALWAYS find their way back to us. All I ask is that if you need to find that muse… step outside the box and outside of yourselves and commune with God and nature. Then look back and reread your posts… see how talented you really are and find that muse that you feel has gone astray. You will find she is still there… just waiting on you to see and feel her presence.

On another note: What a wonderful day yesterday was. The feeling of togetherness was almost as close as one can get to hope for the future. I want to thank everyone that came by and shared their thoughts. I will get by to read your tributes as soon as I can. Thank you for sharing!

Conversation between me and son upon returning from football scrimmage:

Me: Geeeze this house is hot! Help me turn on some fans, please.

Him: Why?

Me: I am hot! But then I am hot alot lately… must be the hot flashes starting again.

Him: Mom, are you in menopause?

Me: Son I have been in menopause for the last two years.

His reactions could be read by anyone standing near enough to see his face. This is a question coming from a 13 yr old kid whose only knowledge of menopause is what he has seen on TV’s “That 70’s Show” from Kitty. First there is the Ummmmm, ok look… then ewwwwww, menopause and last , but the most precious was the red face and giggles as he realised what that meant! I wonder if he thinks I am going to go off the deep end and start boozing it up LOL!

Second best moment this past week:

I am standing at the edge of our couch and he is sitting on the end of the arm rest. I lean over and ask for a hug.

Him: Why?

Me: Because I don’t get enough of them.

Him: OK, and leans in on my stomach with his head.

Me: That is not a hug.

Him: Yes it is.

Me: NO it is not and I start to tickle him around the neck.

Him: leans in closer and pats my back.

Me: Not good enough and I tickle more.

Him: Laughing now and leans in again.

Me: Tickling more earnestly and reach to dig one in under his arm.

Me: Whoa! There is hair under there! pulling arm away…

Him: Mom! It’s been there for weeks!

My last sight as I walk away is him proudly holding both arms up over his head… “See!!”

Oy vei… kids :)

  2. Enjoy, they grow up way too quickly! It’s pretty sad, I now have to look UP to my 15yr old!

  3. Well I forget to write in a diary. So I do it online.

  4. I blog because it keeps me sharp. I had lost touch with who I really am. Blogging helps me remember and is helping me rediscover my voice. And I blog because my daughter thinks it’s hip and it makes her laugh. And Gidget’s right. Hug him while you can they grow like weeds and then they’re gone. The Princess is in the early stages of making her college decision. It’s less than two years away and I am petrified.

  5. Kids are great aren’t they?

    I love writing. That’s why I blog.

    :)

  6. ‘Mom, it’s been there for weeks’ – soooo funny!!!

To answer the question, I don’t know why I blog anymore. In the beginning, I wrote quite a lot about family and enjoyed it but then I was “found”, and as you know from making my beautiful new website, and changing the name I still feel a tad nervous. However, I did save and print so many that I could probably make into a book! :)

  7. P.S. Do not EVER give up on your dream, you are a terrific writer!!
