I originally started this 13 with David from Sugarloaf Mountain in mind. His post here prompted some philosophical deep thinking within myself. With this post I am breaking my first cardinal rule… blogging about religion. But there are some things that just can’t be left alone or unsaid at times.
Please don’t be offended or take to offense the following post. This is only my deep thoughts on the subject matter. If you feel the need to comment on what I say, fine, but don’t start or try to start a religious bloodbath here. Go to your blog and do it there… k?
I love to see people bathing within their religion, to a point. Soaking it all in and letting it wash over you is something that many can’t do, so when I see it… it becomes a delight to see it happen. But, when it takes over your whole self, or becomes a ruling factor in not living life to the fullest, I tend get nervous for that person.
There is a breaking point with me personally. When I feel that something is controlling my thoughts, actions, and life in general, I start to feel cornered. Like a mama bear protecting her cubs, I will fight to break loose. I am strong minded and sometimes pity those that are not like-minded as myself.
Bad trait, I know.
The more I thought about Davids post while reading it and after, I began to wonder if he is bathing in the glory or is he letting it rule his very essence. Is he, with these thoughts, living life itself or letting his church and savior rule it for him. There is a point, a very fine dividing line, that one is lost and the other can start to rule you… in everything that you do, day to day.
Is that living? I would think not. The theme here is living life, celebrating it to the fullest and giving a higher being the credit for allowing you to do so. Morality takes a huge part in day to day life. If you are a moral and honorable person, then when the time comes to meet your maker you should have no fears about going on to a higher plain. If you are immoral and dishonorable, then you deserve whatever final resting place you get.
The 13 quotes below this post all but say that. The part that everyone missed, because we are a fast-paced, fast-living and fast everything society, was that no matter what religion, faith, belief, time zone, race, or era you come from… the message is the same.
Respect
Morality
Honor
Harmony
Peace
Joy
Raggedy was almost on top of the answer… so she wins the contest. I am giving her a guest post on her thoughts on the subject. Thank you all in advance for letting me get this off my chest, so to speak.
