I know that, as a man, I am a little biased, and that I will never understand women, but I am going to make a comparison that will probably set off the feminine readers and should (I hope) start an interesting bout of name-calling.
What is it about women that makes them assume that men will “just know†what they want/need/mean? I understand that intimacy leads to a deeper understanding that could increase understanding, however (comma), when a woman assumes that the man is going to look out for her best interests without letting him know what those interests are, then we have leapt from reality to the realm of sappy romance novels that nobody takes seriously.
The irony here is that when a man expects the same kind of understanding from a woman, she gets angry. Am I the only one that sees the double-standard there?
Next observation – SOME women seem to think that fighting fair in a relationship includes saving issues until the next fight and then dredging things up weeks, or even months, later. Ladies, for those of you that haven’t figured it out, THIS IS ANYTHING BUT FAIR!
I say this to lay the groundwork for a better understanding between men and women. If something bothers you (whether you are a man or a woman) then say so immediately. Don’t wait, don’t hold back, don’t figure, “it’ll go away.†Get it out in the open, because if you don’t, then the very behavior that is so bothersome becomes reinforced and will never be changed.
All of this started while I was riding home tonight. You see, I have started to call my motorcycle “Lady MacBeth.†There is one very simple reason for this. Any rider can tell you that the moment you fail to pay enough attention to the bike, the road, the traffic, and all the other things going on around you, your motorcycle will stab you, figuratively speaking (am I right, Steelcowboy?) This is exactly the kind of immediate feedback that I am talking about.
She doesn’t hide things, she doesn’t remind me of past mistakes, if I make a mistake, then I pay for it, right there. Hopefully, I can walk away from the lesson. I have caught myself in potentially dangerous situations, however (comma), I know the right answer to get myself out of them. Unfortunately, some women think that there is only one right answer, and they get upset when they don’t hear what they want to hear.
Don’t you DARE say that a motorcycle is more dangerous than a woman. If you believe that, then you are living in some Pride and Prejudice fantasy land. Women are the single most vicious creature on the planet. Don’t for a minute forget that. There is a quote that applies, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.â€
Any questions?
