A Sad Truth That Needs Our Attention

Something was brought to my attention recently that is just breaks my heart. I need your help to spread the word and help these folks.

Imagine your loved one died in a horrific accident, say a fiery crash and nothing was left but bone and ash. Then imagine that the ‘authorities’ tell you that you cannot bury your loved one in a proper burial site and that you had to leave those remains where they were moved to – in a garbage dump. How would you react? Like me, I am sure your first reaction was “NO way!” followed by a lot of blanching and that immediate upset tummy feeling. Then rage would set in; lots and lots of rage. Who are they to tell me I can’t bury my kin? Well folks, this is already happening and you will not believe who and where.

2,479 people died in this tragedy and approximately 1500 are still not identified. Does that ring a bell? Yes, these are the victims of the attack on the World Trade Center. The sad truth is these unidentified peoples of 91 countries and many faiths are sitting at this moment on top of a landfill in New York called (add insult to injury) Fresh Kills.

Upon hearing about this I started weeping. It broke my heart to know that a great country such as ours could allow this to happen. It reminded me of a poem I wrote back after the Trade Center went down. It reminded me of the horror I felt while watching the towers fall. It brought back the rage I felt for those responsible for this tragedy. Then it just made me sick to my stomach that this is still sitting in legislature awaiting a final say on where these victims will finally be buried.

It has been over 4 years and New York has not decided where these folks can be buried? WTF? Come on people! Let these families have some peace! Find them a site and let them begin the healing process!!! How this can be allowed to happen is beyond imaginings and words.

I need your help to spread the word. Copy this into e-mails and send it around the globe. Go to the web site and get the form letter provided and mail it to all those responsible that have the power to move these remains to a proper burial ground. Help me give these people the peace they so richly deserve.

Please leave your comment that you have done so.

This is the United States of America and our hero’s deserve more than a landfill!!
