Blogiversary – 1 year ago today…

One year ago today I started this blog. I don’t remember what motivated me, but it has been one heck of a ride. On the 23rd Carlo joined me here and helped me make this a comfy place to let down all those walls that had been in place. I was fresh out of a really bad situation with someone I had trusted. I needed an outlet to vent those frustrations, but as it turned out I never really needed to vent but once or twice.

I found a host of new friends; some who have quit in the past year and even more who I still have to go get my daily fix from. We all come from different cultures, religions, political views and lives. We are as diverse as it gets, but I wouldn’t trade a second that I have spent amongst you.

I thought I would share some of our better posts over the last year. Some that still draw hits and some that caused controversy gone by the way side, but all in all they were part of who we are.

The first post I did that drew a comment: Malicious Blogs
The baby foot picture that drew so many ooh’s and aah’s: Baby Foot
The picture that draws the most hits, even to this day: Kissing Her Thanks
Carlo’s thoughts on Political Correctness: Brainwashing
Wanna know about me? Go here: Insight into the Phoenix
Carlo’s thoughts on internet relationships: Internet
My letters to my son: found here, here and here.
My tribute to Mae West: Mae West
My Tribute to all of you, the readers!

I know that all of you over the past year have made our lives all the richer. Some of you I have chatted personally with and there are others that I would love to have that chance someday. I feel I know you through your writings and I have shared all of your ups and downs.

May the next year bring many more friends here in this little world we call our secondary homes! Hugsssssssss!!!!

****************Carlo’s Take*****************
One year. Well, that’s both a long and a short time if you look at it in different ways. One year is 1/4th of my son’s life, but only 1/36th of mine; one year is 8760 hours (give or take), but only 52 weeks (or, more importantly, 52 weekENDS).
So much can change in a year, but so much stays the same… I am still in the Army, but I had to leave one child to be with the other. I have become single, AGAIN. I have been in three different jobs without changing units. I have had to go to a school to learn a job that I already knew, and go to a different school to learn one that I didn’t. People have started demonstrating at soldier’s funerals. Others have found a non-violent way to block them.
Most importantly, I have virtually met some wonderful people. I hope that they all know who they are.
I apologize for my lack of creativity, tonight, but in the last five days I have said goodbye to about forty of my co-workers. I miss them, and I hope that they are all safe.
Carlo
