Fall is a time when the leaves turn to red and gold hues here in Georgia. Camellia’s start their winter blooms. Pecans fall; squirrels and woodpeckers start working on their nests. Yellow Jackets turn especially nasty and domestic animals get their winter coats. The sounds of laughter as the neighborhood kids play football and my son planning out his costume for Holloween.
For me it means less time sick with my IBS with the cooler weather. Open windows and fresh air. Ah yes, I live for the cooler weather. You can only take off so many clothes in the summer and maintain decency, but in the winter you can get warm with a blanket or a loved one. I lack the latter as the son is now of an age where he is not so cool on the mom snuggling up with him any longer.
My job gets hectic this time of year as I work for a company that makes and distributes Pastries. My workload almost doubles and vacation time is blocked out until after the holidays. Stress builds up with no release until after this time of year has passed. I find myself wanting to be outside more and inside less.
It is also a time where I can catch a break from the vegetables piled everywhere in my kitchen. No more canning, freezing and storing. No more having to clean up after my WH when he does all these things and leaves a bigger mess than when he started. Breaks from listening to him whine on the weekends because football games are on. Yes, I do love this time of the year for that one thing alone; the silence of him and the noise of the TV.
I have a couple of questions for you:
1. What is the one thing you love/hate about this time of year?
2. What would you be doing right now if you had 1 day to do anything you wanted in the cooler weather?
