I hate the word “Standby.â€
Remember when you were a kid and there were “technical difficulties†right in the middle of your favorite show? They always say, “Please standby.†What about the news people? They always say, “Standby for breaking news.â€
You know, I really don’t like waiting for stuff that I need to know. I also don’t like waiting to find out if I have to go somewhere to do something. I hope that you have all figured out that I have NOT gone to Texas to help people with rebuilding from Hurricane Rita.
That’s not the issue. The real issue is that we are on “Standby†in case we have to go somewhere else. I don’t mind going and doing things, I mind WAITING. We were ready to go Friday evening, and, by the way, that is when they told us we WOULD be going, at first, then we were told that it would be Saturday evening, then pushed back to Sunday morning. Obviously, I haven’t gone anywhere, yet, so I am still waiting. *sigh* We shall see…
I would rather do something than wait to find out if we are going to do it. Not knowing is the worst part of it. Oh, well, there’s not a thing I can do about it, so I will just have to accept it.
