I made a promise to my son that if he passed 5th Grade, I would take him somewhere special this summer. Well, He did!!! 
I am so proud of him!
What is the problem you ask? He wants to go somewhere we have never been before. When I have taken vacations it has always been to Florida to visit my mother. My WH has been sneakily trying to vie in on this time with my son, but I am sticking to my guns. This is just for me and the youngin.
Have you seen the price of vacation “stuff” lately???!!! A weeks rental for a car could cost anywhere from 200.00 to 300.00 bucks. A weeks cabin rental could cost anywhere from 600.00 to 2000.00!!! This does not include gas, food and depending on how far you have to drive, a stay in a motel. 50.00 and up for one night!
I need suggestions… desperately! I made the promise and I will find a way to make the promise come true. I am heading out on July 16th determined to not take him to Florida. So for one week from the 16th to the 21st of July… I need suggestions of something affordable I can do with him. I will need lodging, attractions/activities and I still am not sure if I will have to rent a car. We live in Georgia so it will have to be within driving distance. Hopefully no more than 10 hours lol (I can do that in one sitting).
I am even contemplating putting up a Vacation Donation button… I just HAVE to make this work! Otherwise I will have broken a major promise and that will be a regret I will never be able to live with. He has been through so much already… I just could not give him another disappointment.
