I did something today that would have been unthinkable in my 20′s.
I went and got my hair cut.
Carlo, before you go into panic mode… let me explain.
I have been suffering from terrible headaches, neck and shoulder pain and just plain, too much pulling on my head. I must be getting too old to have extremely long hair. Even the hair stylist was afraid to cut it, out of fear I would go postal as most women who have long hair do when faced with shears. I explained with scrunched up face from a migraine, but with a winning smile, that I needed relief. Another stylist walked by and said “Yes that is why you have headaches.” And in the next sentence said “Such pretty hair!” and immediately started playing with it. (Why is it that everyone feels the need to play with my hair?)
I told them I wanted to keep the length and could we find a way to take off some of the weight. She made some suggestions and I finally agreed that would be the best and let her wash it for me. Now, I am a person that loves having my hair washed for me. I will sit for hours and let someone brush it for me. It is the most sensual and calming thing I know. (Besides actual sex
)
I do have to admit that I when I went and sat in the styling chair I did have a moment of panic. I bit my lip and told myself… “NO MORE HEADACHES!” and gave her the nod. With my hair length you could only really call this a trim and not a real “haircut”. When she was finished it was 4 inches shorter in the center of my back and rounding up to about 6 inches in the front, and CONSIDERABLY lighter in weight. She blew it dry for me as it was cold in “Jawjah” last night so I was grateful. (Plus it meant more time getting it brushed. Hehe!)
I have gone from “not quite sitting on it” to waist length and I awoke this morning without a stiff neck for a change. It is still long and luxurious for someone of my age group. Most young women would kill to have my thick long locks. I may be getting older, but I still have my hair, with its natural gray … errrr… blonde.. yea! That’s it! … blonde highlights.
